Hurricane Helene

Information and Resources for Hurricane Helene

The Board has identified licensees with upcoming renewals located in Western North Carolina and has made provisions for these impacted individuals. Please check the License Lookup for your licensure information or log in to your online profile. Please contact the Board at your convenience for further information regarding the upcoming expiration of your license.

While this Board oversees social work practice in North Carolina, we cannot advise social workers on practice with clients located in other jurisdictions. If a SW is interested in providing clinical services to clients physically located in another jurisdiction, this is something that the social worker will want to inquire with the jurisdiction(s) they are interested in practicing, to determine if they require the SW to be licensed there prior to providing services across state lines/internationally, even if they intend to do so electronically.

Please refer to the information provided by the Board regarding Executive Order 318. You are able to provide clinical social work services in North Carolina for an allowable 5 days in a single calendar year to maintain continuity of care. If a licensed Social Worker is interested in providing clinical social work services with clients located in North Carolina beyond the allowable 5 days, they would first be required to obtain licensure from the NC Social Work Board. If time is needed beyond the five day allowance, you may access and apply for temporary licensure by submitting the application and $25 fee.

Any services provided in North Carolina would need to be provided in accordance with the NC General Statutes and Rules.
